OK, so my eight month old daughter, who previously slept all night, has been waking up every two hours!!I'm so tired...I know everyone says I should just let her cry herself back to sleep, but then nobody else gets any sleep! Then, we all look like this .
Is there anyone who has had this problem? How long am I supposed to put up with the crying before she stops waking up all the time!?!? Anybody have any advice other than just letting her "cry it out"? Please help! |

I know what you mean, I have the exact same problem! I just can't let my baby "cry it out" ... Like you said, then nobody gets any sleep... So yes, I am looking for answer to this question too.

"Crying it out" sounds so harsh. Seems to me a soothing voice and a comfortable lap would send her right back to sleep.

My son went through this every few months until he was about a year and a half. Since he was my first, I was stressed about every little change. When he slept, I would sleep, too - day or night. Luckily, I didn't work then. My daughter was a sound sleeper at night from the beginning. The teachers at her daycare were great about her nap schedule and entertaining her so that she would sleep well at night.

My daughter had a hard time transitioning from her bassinet to her crib. We are still trying to work through it and she shares a room with her 3 year old sister. Most nights, I rub her back (without picking her up) until she stops crying. It usually helps.

I'm lucky I guess because my girls both slept soundly from the start. We're a pretty low-key family.

Me too. My son has been sleeping through the night since he was about 6 weeks. He goes down around 11pm and is up at 6am. He eats, then gos right back to sleep for another hour or two. I am still on maternity leave, so I can go back to bed when he does.

I was fortunate in that both my boys slept through from about 4 months...
HOWEVER....
Since January my four year old now comes in with us every night. |

You don't realize how much you need to get a good night's sleep until you get one!! I think we go through each night being "moms" that we don't have time to think about being tired. One chance at a good night and I konk out!!

My baby recently started waking up again at night. She seems so hungry, but I thought it was bad to get her into the habit of eating at night again. We went to the pediatrician for her 9 month check up and the doctor said it may be a growth spurt and that we should just give her a bottle. The doctor wasn't worried about habits. She said when the baby is done the growth spurt, she will most likely just go back to sleeping all night. What a relief!

I am also having this same problem, I really hope it gets better soon, because I have only slept about 5 hours in the past two days.
