The second day of school was the worst - she held on to me so hard the teacher had to prey her away. I was embarrassed and felt horrible at the same time. It was traumatic for both of us. Ten minutes later, everything was fine.

It wasn't my school-aged child, but I took my 2 year-old to a Dr. Seuss birthday party at my son's school and she TOTALLY FREAKED OUT when she saw the Cat in the Hat! I mean, screaming, crying, begging to leave!!! It was terrible. I felt even worse for the little girls in my son's class whose mother WAS the Cat! The poor things saw how scared my daughter was of their mother!! Embarassed
