| How old do you think is "old enough" for a child to be on the internet? I have a girlfriend whose 3 year old goes on the internet. Granted, she is at sites like PBS and Playhouse Disney, but it just seems young to me...Am I old fashioned? |

| My 6 year old has been going on the internet since about age 4. Of course, he couldn't read then, so he got bored pretty quick. We limit his time, especially now that school has started. |

My son has been on the internet since he was about 4. He can read and write so I have to keep a close eye on him.
He goes on the Disney site and Cbeebies, but also likes to look at the images of things like Mystery Machine, Spiderman
Once he was looking up the abc and ended up at an e-card site that sang the ABC with rather colorful language. NOT child friendly at all!
I limit him to half hour a day though. |

I have deliberately NOT taught my kids how to use the computer. Mr 4 can't read or write yet, so its not that it matters a great deal, but I have enough problem getting them away from the DVD player, and besides the computer is about the only thing I have that is for my enjoyment LOL I don't wanna have to fight them for it _________________ "Dance like nobody is watching, Sing like nobody is listening - and hope for their sake they aren't!!!!" |

There is a new gizmo out called like the Internet launch pad. It is a unit that has a bunch of attachments shaped like kids' favorite characters. The child puts the character on the launch and it brings up that character's Web page (after the parent programs it I am sure). It looks pretty cool.
My daughter gets on Sesame Street, the Wiggles and the Doodlebops sites. She is only allowed on the computer twice a week for 30 minutes. She can choose that instead of a television program. |
