This may sound silly, but babies don’t know how to relax.  Just like most everything else it has to be taught to them.

This is be very helpful once your baby is ready to stop taking naps, but still needs that time just to unwind for a while to regain some energy.  This will also help your child be less cranky throughout the day, serving much of the same purpose as a nap would.

Encourage your child to relax with you, and this way your child will understand what it means to relax.  It could be sitting or laying together on the couch, or even just sitting out on some lawn chairs reading books.  Whatever it is that helps you relax, pass that on to your children.

Who doesn’t love to be outside enjoying this wonderful summer weather?  There are some things to consider doing in your yard before letting play time begin.

If you have a BBQ, make sure you teach your child that this is hot and shouldn’t be touched.  Even if it isn’t hot it could still tip over if your child decided to try and play with it.  Also keep all of the grilling utenicles, charcoal, and lighter fluid out of child’s reach.

One fun activity is walking through the woods to see all the pretty flowers and plants that are growing.  Make sure that your child knows not to pick anything without your permission as some of them may be poisonous.

It doesn’t take much water at all for a  child to drown in, so make sure you have an eye on your child at all times while they are in the pool.  Also don’t put a lot of water in the kiddie pools and then empty them out when you are done (let your animals drink the water so that is doesn’t get wasted) .

A very common hazard is lawn mowers.  These can be very dangerous and I have already heard many stories just this year of children getting hurt.  Keep your child either inside the house or in a porch that has a gate while you are mowing.  You generally can’t hear when you on a mower if a child comes up beside you.  When you are done keep your lawn equipment away from children.

These are some tips that I thought were important, I hope you feel the same!  Now everyone go enjoy a safe summer!

Try to encourage your children to experience different foods. With a wide variety of foods to choose from you are also helping to have the learn to try new things.

There are so many things that you can get a toddler to eat that a young child will not (if they have never tried them before) such as beats, or even olives.

I think it is wonderful to try to give new foods to your children, don’t always expect that it will stay that way. I think every child goes through the faze of chicken fingers, and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Give them what they like, just try to through in some new things too!

Divorce is hard as it is, and it is so important that the children don’t view it as their fault.  Children have a way of blaming everything on themselves.  It will help greatly if you and your ex can keep things peaceful.

Don’t nag your child for information, and when you have your child there shouldn’t be any bad talking about your ex.  The fact is that this child still needs love, and that they are already going to be thinking that it is something that they did.

Make sure you are telling your child how much you both love him/her, and that will never change.

Lead paint is very dangerous, and children should be checked at least once a year.  This is esspecailly for children are in the age of putting things or their hands in their mouth.

This is something that you can’t be too cautious about, so check recalls often, and have a good recollection of your children’s toys so you can recognize them.

This is really important, especially with bottle fed babies.  If you are just propping your baby up with the bottle in their mouth this will increase the possibility of them choking.

Also if you are putting your baby to bed with a bottle, this could increase the chances of ear infections later on in their life.

The best reason that I can think of to hold your baby while have their bottle, is the bonding time that you get.  As your baby looks into your eyes, you know that they are thanking you just by the way the look at you.  They are priceless times that you can’t get back, so why not hold them a little bit longer!
