Babies that get abused or neglected can speak for themselves and need us to do it for them.  If you have ANY suspicions that something is not right pay closer attention, look for any time of marks on the baby.  If you spot something that shouldn’t be on that baby then report it to authorities.

If it doesn’t get reported, the abuse and the neglect will only get worse.  If you are someone who is thinking about hurting a baby, please get help.  Call a helpline, get therapy, or just give your child to someone that you know will take care of them until you get help.

Everyone hug your baby a little tighter today and say just one more “I love you” to those that are close to you.

Bisphenol A is a synthetic hormone that could cause infertility, cancer and hormonal imbalances in kids.  This is a problem in baby bottles when they are heated, because it causes the Bisphenol A to leak out of the plastic.

When this study was being done, all 19 polycarbonate bottles were found to leak the Bisphenol A.  95% of the bottles in the US and Canada contain Bisphenol A.

Some of the ones tested were Avent, Disney/The First Years, Dr. Brown’s, Evenflo, Gerber and Playtex and they all released the synthectic hormone when heated.

There is an immediate moratorium put on Bisphenol A, since it is unnecessary.  I will keep you all posted in this event.

If your baby’s teeth are damaged it can actually cause the adult teeth to be the same way, depending on how bad they are.  Baby teeth really are just as important as permanent teeth, and since they wont fall out until around age 7, these are the teeth that your child will have for a while.  Help her keep them healthy.

I have heard many different things about when to take a baby to a dentist.  I have heard no later than a year after you baby gets their first tooth, and 18 months, and some not until they are 3 years old.

I would say to contact the dentist that your family goes to and ask them when they should see your baby and go by that.  If  your baby isn’t having any problems with their teeth, then your dentist may tell you to wait a little while longer.

I wanted to take this post and use it to say thank you to all of the parents, grandparents, and anyone else who is caring for their baby.  In this crazy world where all you hear about is the abuse that is happening I think it is important to recognize the people who love their children very much and do everything in their power to make them have the best life possible.

I hope that you are smiling while you read this because you know that you fall under that category.   Being a parent is hard work and you do it well!  Thank you!

If you have a walker or a saucer try to limit the time to about 20 minutes a day. There are studies being done that are saying the too much time in these toys are causing back pain when the babies get older.

Babies are normally walking between 11 to 15 months, and if a baby isn’t yet walking by 18 months it may have something to do with the amount of time spent in their walker or saucer. When they are in the walkers or saucers they arch their back in a strange way and that posture can cause back pain in adults, and there it could cause long-term disability.

If you need to put your baby somewhere safe so that you can get things done or just take a break play pins work great.

Personally I think that preschool is a wonderful opportunity for children. They get the chance to play with other kids their age as well as get adjusted to a new routine of going to school, and I feel that this will help them prepare for kindergarten.

It is also a great place for your child to learn the ABC’s, colors, numbers, and even shapes (if this is something they don’t already know). Something else that they will learn is how to share and cooperate with others children. For stay at home parents it could be a little harder to see your baby growing up and going to preschool, but don’t let that stop you from letting them go.

Check out the local preschools in your area and get an idea for what is out there so you are not blindsided when the time comes to start enrolling. Something else to ease your mind is that preschool is not normally an all day thing. Some places only go a couple times a week for longer hours and other places go more times a week for shorter periods of time each day. This should help everyone get adjusted.

Research has been done on what a great vitamin this is to take while you are pregnant.  There are new studies are showing that if you have been taking it one year prior to being pregnant it can reduce your chance of having a premature baby by 70%.  I encourage any woman at least 18 years of age to start taking Folic Acid to make sure that to get that full year in.
