The Roll-a-Rounds Drop and Roar Dinosaur by Fisher Price is a great toy! Alex loves it and it's really good for babies to learn coordination. This toy is for babies 6 months and up. Fisher Price recommends it for babies from 6 months to 2 years old. It requires 3 AA batteries which don't come with it.

I recommend the book Super Baby Food to learn more about how your baby should be eating.

I've been devouring this book since I got it and I'll pass along some of the information I've learned from it here on toddler portion sizes which is a very important subject as you do not want to feed your child too much nor should you feed him or her too little.

It's a good idea to make your toddler's food portions sizes equal to 1 to 2 tablespoons of food for each year of the child's age. For example a 2 year old should get 2 to 4 tablespoons, and a 3 year old should get 3 to 6 tablespoons, and a 1 1/2 year old should get a 1 1/2 to 3 tablespoon portion. If you cannot measure a particuler food by tablespoon give your child anywhere from 1/4 to 1/2 of an adult's portion size.

This information on toddler portion sizes is just one example of the great info on proper baby food nutrition that fills the pages of Super Baby Food.

Tips on keeping your baby's baby teeth healthy:

1. Sippy Cups:

Once your baby is about one year old you should try to move away from using a bottle and towards using a sippy cup. Why? Sippy cups are better for their newly developing teeth.

2. Cut Down On Juice Intake:

Another thing that is harmful for baby teeth is too much juice because of the high sugar content of juice. Many people forget how much sugar is in juice. Along with being bad for the teeth too much juice as well as too much milk will make your baby think they are already full when it is time to eat.

3. More Water!

Water is a great thing to offer instead of juice and milk. It's a great thing to get your baby used to drinking lots of water now so they will have this habit throughout life of thinking it's natural to drink water when thirsty instead of sugar drinks like soda. It shouldn't need to be said but you should never let your baby drink soda.

Another good idea is to water down your baby's juice so it's not so sugary.

4. Starting A Toothbrush Routine:

When Alex started teething we started the routine of brushing his teeth twice a day. Now it doesn't bother him at all, in fact, he is trying to do it himself! We just had to make it fun, and we'd let him watch us while we brushed our teeth.

We try to mostly stick with fruits and veggies as snacks for Alex. The Fresh fruit I want to buy is not always in season so sometimes we have to buy the prepackaged fruit. I always check for the amount of syrup (which is basically just sugar) that is in the package. Unfortunately a lot of prepackaged fruit is packaged with a lot of sugary syrup and a lot of syrup is of course very bad for your child.

If you are trying to avoid syrups all together I have found that the prepackaged pineapples tend to be soaked in juice instead of syrup.

Remember to always check the packages of the food you are buying for their nutritional values and ingredients. This is a good habit not only for the food you feed to your children but also for the food you feed to yourself! Your children are going to learn their eating habits from from your habits. So make your habits good habits for the health of both your child and yourself.
