If you fear that a child or baby that you know is being maltreated, whether by neglect or abuse, please report it. When maltreatment occurs it is usually done by a parent (sometimes even both) and is almost always not just a one time thing.

You could be saving, not only that child, but their siblings lives as well. An estimated one million kids a year suffer from maltreatment.

Some warning signs (but not proof)
  • delayed speech, laughing or playing by age 1
  • with older children a sign is suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
  • unable to focus, always looking nervously around.

So please protect the children that someone else neglects. I know this was kind of a depressing entry, but something needs to be done!

I am not saying that every child with delayed speech is neglected, just a possible sign of neglect. You have to consider the other possiblities.

Maybe you could post a link to the Child Abuse Hotlines in every state...I would think there must be a master list SOMEWHERE on the internet!
