Ever since I became a mommy I have looked back on all the times I babysat as a teenager. When you are looking for a babysitter and you can't think of things you think you should tell them, go back to when you used to babysit and think about think about the things you wish the parents would have went over with you.

Leaving your baby is one of the hardest things to do so I can't stress this enough: trust your gut! Alex only has two people that we allow to watch him. It is my choice to have it that way, but I am very lucky to have that choice. I am a stay at home mom so I really don't need one that often.

I have tons of people, including inlaws, that would love to babysit our kids. Inlaws live 1 1/2 hours in the OPPOSITE direction of every place we would want to spend time, which is stressful! We hire the highschool girl across the street, and my kids love her. As much as I know the grandparents like the kids, I feel so much better with the kids hanging out with a hip teenager! This girl lives across the street, her parents are home, and her mom is a nurse, I have all the security they are fine when I leave them with her. If any issue arrives, I just know the mom can come over and assist.

I see where you are coming from. You have to feel safe with who your baby is with or you will be stressed the whole time you are away! I don't think it is fair for you to have to drive that far (unless for a visit) just to have a babysitter.
